What is it?
The Airpolisher is a “medical-grade powerwasher”. This is a new technology providing an alternative way to
efficiently and effectively clean teeth. Compressed air, water, and a fine powder of erythritol particles are
sprayed onto the tooth surface to remove disease-producing bacterial biofilm, while improving patient comfort.
This is called: Guided Biofilm Therapy
Why is it beneficial?
Dental disease, tooth decay, periodontal gum disease and peri-implantitis (inflammation around implants)
are all caused by biofilm… As the air polisher mixture is applied to tooth surfaces, restorations, and implant
surfaces, it removes surface stains, soft calculus, food debris, and biofilm. This Guided Biofilm therapy
removes disease on surfaces above, and 5mm below, the gums. Additionally, Air-polishing therapy is the
most effective treatment for cleaning implant surfaces during biofilm removal. This cleaning technique
is efficient and, as important, comfortable for the patient
How can I use it?
The Air Polisher will be recommended to patients we feel will most benefit, i.e.: high-risk dental disease
patients. However, all patients can benefit from its use. Please be advised, there will be a small additional
fee to use this advanced technology, providing you with a superior cleaning experience
All patients can benefit from the Air Polisher, and upon your request, can be used on a first come first
serve basis.
